It's a New Year, and I would like to start this year with a fresh, new Sims game. I've been working on the 100 baby challenge last year. Everything was fine until I installed Generations and got those annoying scrapbook memories that did nothing but slow down my game and bloat the file size. I like the concept of memories as they were in Sims 2, but the hideous screenshots, annoying pop-up notifications, and the ridiculous detailing of every boring bit such as unclogging toilets and preparing pancakes killed memories for me. I had to find a way to get rid of those memories... permanently. I'm not really in to mods and stuff like that, but mods really are the only way to get rid of those stupid memories. More on that in my next blog post.
This year, when I found out about the new Clone Voucher reward that comes with Sims 3 Generations (which I just got now; my only expansion packs so far are Ambitions and Generations), I decided to make another challenge which I know that some people have already done, but this will be a different version with more detailed rules. Besides, I've always wanted to make a Sims story in my years of playing the game and I'll do it this year. Read along with me if you also want to do the challenge yourself.
Wait! Before you go on, at least you should have Sims 3 Generations to be able to purchase the clone voucher reward. Otherwise, you can't do this challenge. The aim of this challenge is to be able to clone 100 copies of your parent sim as possible and have all of them 'succeed' in their own rights.
DA RULES (as I made them)
1. Start with a single sim, any gender, young adult, with any set of traits, any lifetime wish. Feel free to go easy on yourself by picking traits like ambitious and stuff like that because this challenge is about raking in the Lifetime Happiness Points. Or, you can also set yourself up for a challenge and give him/her all the negative traits.
2. Your single sim who will be the father/mother of all the clones will only be allowed to use the happiness points on producing more clones. All other rewards (objects and bonus traits) will have to be purchased by the clones. The good news is that some skill rewards are similar to some lifetime rewards, such as long distance friend and charisma's 'super friendly.' Better strategize.
3. Feel free to pick any lot where you would like to move your sim and design your home to your heart's content, but on one condition: no money cheats.
4. Okay, no cheats. There. I said it. Perhaps except those cheats needed to fix glitches and also for positioning objects. That's it.
5. Feel free to play on any lifespan, but the caveat is that you can only age up sims on their actual birthdays. Once you start the challenge, you can no longer adjust the lifespan.
6. Your parent sim may have a partner (or even many!) but can't move the partner in. Only the parent sim, clones, clones' offspring (adopted or biological), clones' spouses, and strays (dogs, cats, horses, unicorns) are allowed. For the Oh My Ghost opportunity, you may only resurrect dead clones. Your parent sim may not have biological children. So, you also aren't allowed to use the lifetime wish 'Surrounded by Family' for the parent sim unless you want your parent sim to never fulfill his/her lifetime wish. Simbots and other creatures have to be released into the wild (except for vampire clones, as long as the creature in question is a clone or a stray pet).
7. Traits for the clones may only be changed using the 'Midlife Crisis' reward. Clones will have three of the parent sim's traits by default.
8. No mods except for Shimrod's No Memories Mod (because memories will slow your game down, bloat your file, and increase your chances of getting save errors) and mods that will not affect gameplay such as the No Intro Mod. Install the no memories mod BEFORE starting the challenge. No downloading custom lots that can affect gameplay such as perfect gardens, bad apple orchards, etc. You can, however, create them on your own with your hard work. No editing community lots except for glitch-fixing purposes and if you already own the venue via real estate.
9. You can only move out clones after they fulfill their lifetime wants. Clone's spouses, offspring, and pets may be moved out anytime.
10. The only life-extending stuff you could use on your parent sim are Ambrosia, death flowers, young again potion (via chemistry lab only), and/or life fruit because your parent sim can't buy lifetime rewards aside from the clone voucher, unless of course if you could get a clone to buy an age freeze potion, move the clone out, and find that the potion has been passed to your parent sim's inventory, in which case, age-freeze potions will be allowed.
11. The challenge ends once the 100th clone has moved out.
12. Enjoy :) and feel free to share your awesome stories. This is a challenge that's good for trying out different stuff that sims can do such as marry someone of the same gender, live like a hobo, make a living out of only inventing, try out all sorts of ridiculous looks on each of your clones to give them unique personalities... the possibilities are endless!
